Vermilion Parish person robbed while helping motorist on La. 339
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a robbery which occurred this past at approximately 10:30 pm.
Sheriff Mike Couvillon says that the victim was traveling south on La. Hwy. 339 and as he was approaching Perkins Road and noticed a older model dark colored vehicle possibly a Ford Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis with a temp tag in the back window with a subject attempting to flag someone down.
The victim stated that he stopped and assisted the person push the vehicle off of La. Hwy. 339 onto Perkins road and after doing so was struck by the subject who demanded money and ordered the victim to remain on the ground until he (subject) was gone, or he would shoot him.
Sheriff Couvillon says that the victim identified the subject as a light skin black male approximately 6’ 0” 185lbs. wearing a black hoodie, baseball cap and blue jeans who took $115.00 in cash from the victim’s wallet and fled the scene heading south on La. Hwy. 339.
Detectives are actively and aggressively investigating this case and are asking anyone who knows of a person fitting this description and/or driving this type of vehicle with temp tags to please contact the Vermilion Parish Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403.
