Vermilion Parish man loses leg after getting pinned by truck in Lafayette
Jonathon Standridge, 32, of Leroy lost his leg Monday when he was pinned against a truck and a trailer in Lafayette Parish.
According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Office, a 90-year-old man struck Standbridge with his Ford truck.
According to police, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputies received a call of a serious traffic crash in the 4700 block of Landry Road, near its intersection of S. Fieldspan Road.
Police say the driver turned east onto Landry Road from Fieldspan Road at the same time Standridge, a Gulfgate Contractors employee, was loading an excavator onto a trailer on the roadway.
Standridge had just completed trenching an area off of Landry Road and was standing at the back of the trailer securing the ramps for the excavator, according to police. The driver was allegedly blinded by the sun temporarily and struck the victim pinning him between the trailer and the victim’s truck.
Routine toxicology tests are pending and the 90-year-old driver was uninjured in the crash.
No citations have been issued at this point, but the investigation continues.
