Two locals run in Boston Marathon
Two local runners completed the Boston Marathon on Monday and finished with impressive times.
Delcambre native Jonathan Granger, who now lives in New Iberia, finished the 26.2-mile race in a time of three hours, 22 minutes, and 39 seconds (3:22:39).
Out of 36,000 runners, 43-year-old Granger finished a respectable 7,137.
He ran a steady 7:44-mile pace for all 26 miles. Granger, who ran track for Delcambre High and UL-L, started the race on fire, running just over a 6 minute-mile pace the first six miles. He slowed down his pace at the half-way point and was clocked at 1:20.49.
Abbeville resident Anne Sagrera, running in her second Boston Marathon, completed the race in three hours, 44 minutes and 58 seconds (3:44.58). Her time was good enough to qualify her for next year’s Boston Marathon. The qualifying time for her age group is 3:45.00. She qualified by two seconds.
The 40-year-old finished in 13,890 place out of 36,000 runners. She was 4,511 in her gender.
Sagrera ran a 48:05 at the six-mile mark and 1:43:32 at the halfway point.
