Two injured in two vehicle accident at intersection of MLK Drive and State Street in Abbeville

Electrical pole broken; electricity turned off for repair

On Wednesday, two people were injured in a two vehicle accident in Abbeville at around 4:30 p.m. that sent two people to the hospital and caused some people to go without electricity for a couple of hours.
The accident occurred at the intersection of MLK Drive and State Street.
A female was driving a white Toyota Avalon on MLK Drive heading west. She drove onto State Street and was hit on the passenger side by a white GMC truck. One of the vehicles also hit the electrical pole at the intersection, cracking the pole in half.
The Abbeville police and fire departments blocked off traffic on State Street until the city electrical department changed the pole. During the replacement of the electrical pole, electricity had to be turned off.
The names of the injured were not released by the Abbeville Police Department.
