Two accidents on the northern part of Vermilion Parish

Two separate accidents occurred 20 minutes within each other in the northern part of Vermilion Parish on Monday.
The first one was a single car accident that occurred on La. 699 between the community of Leroy and Kaplan. Elton Whittle of Erath was driving his Chevy Malibu heading east on La. 699. For unknown reasons, Whittle’s vehicle veered off the road, into a ditch and then ran into a culvert. Whittle was talking when he was removed from the vehicle.
Then, moments after that accident, two vehicles collided at the intersection of La. 699 and La. 167.
According to State Police, Travis Hoover of Abbeville was driving a Dodge truck and stopped at the intersection of La. 699 and La. 167. For unknown reasons, Hoover turned onto La. 167 and at the same time, hit a Nissan Altima that was heading south.
Driving the Nissan was Ashley Cormier of Lafayette. She was shaken up but not seriously injured.
Hoover was given a ticket for the accident.
