Trick-or-Treat is now Wednesday in Vermilion Parish

The forecast has forced changes to the Trick-or-Treat schedule in Vermilion Parish after all.
The Trick-or-Treat scheduled will move from Thursday to Wednesday.
Mayors around Vermilion Parish made announcements of the changes late Monday and early Tuesday. The forecast calls for more than a 60 percent chance of rain on Thursday, prompting the move to Wednesday.
The times in Abbeville, Delcambre, Erath, Maurice and Kaplan will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Vermilion Parish Police Jury also made the call to follow the same schedule.
Other activities will take place along with the collections of candy. Delcambre High School Project Graduation will put on a haunted house at the Shrimp Festival Building from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The 15th annual Boo on the Boulevard, hosted by the Vermilion Parish Library, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30 instead of Halloween night as in previous years. Activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Lyle Turnley Park with costume contest registration, which will continue until 5:30 p.m.
Harvest Time Tabernacle will also moved its Harvest Fest from Thursday to Wednesday. The family friendly event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Harvest Time, located at 901 Wildcat Dr. in Abbeville. Along with free candy, several activities will be offered, as well as a Cajun Throw-Down cooking contest. There will be both Gumbo and Miscellaneous categories. Appropriate costumes are welcome.
The changes have brought a positive effect for the “Scare on the Square.” The annual event will indeed take place Wednesday in Magdalen Square in downtown Abbeville. Had it remained on Thursday, the event would have moved form the square to the library.
“We changed to Wednesday to follow the city,” the library’s Sue Trahan said Tuesday morning. “That allowed us to keep the event in Magdalen Square.
“I’m looking at that a the silver lining given all the changes.”
Registration for “Scare on the Square” will take place today in Magdalen Square from 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Judging for the costume contest will also take place at that time.
