Toby Walker to run for sheriff in Vermilion Parish
Toby Walker announces that he is campaigning for the office of Sheriff in Vermilion Parish. Toby was born and raised in New Iberia and is a 1988 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School.
He and his wife, Karen, of nineteen years have resided in the Abbeville/Erath area where they raise their three children for the past twenty years. Toby comes from a long line of officers in his immediate family.
Walker brings his experience from the Abbeville Police Department where he has worked for the past fifteen years. He has extensive training in criminal investigations and held the Sergeant’s position in patrol for twelve years. He also served as a K9 handler upon him resigning to run for Sheriff of Vermilion parish. Toby has held positions in Investigations and Narcotics, where he has worked a wide variety of crimes ranging from thefts, homicides, and numerous narcotic cases.
He served on the SWAT team as well. He has worked with judges, attorneys, FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals, other officers and surrounding agencies. He is a past member of the Leblanc Fire Department where provided his services for eleven years before joining the Abbeville Police Department.
Walker is holding his inaugural fundraiser, which will be held on May 31, 2014 in the Erath Community Building located in the Erath city park at 6 p.m.
