Student in Abbeville charged with terrorizing
A Mt. Carmel student was brought into the Abbeville Police Department on Tuesday after allegedly posting something on social media that was allegedly a threat to the school.
The student was charged with terrorizing, according to the Abbeville Police Department. The police did not release the name or the age of the student.
The Abbeville Police Department began its investigation that morning, after receiving a phone call from the school administration. Parents saw a picture on social media that was related to the planning of a school shooting and became concerned and called the administration.
The police were able to identify who posted the picture, because the name of the student was posted with the picture. It was not known if the student acted alone.
The police did not give details of what the picture said or showed.
The student went before a juvenile judge Tuesday afternoon and was released into the custody of the student’s parents.
Around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, a school alert was sent out to the parents of Mt. Carmel students. An alert informing them that the school was in a partial lockdown.
The school remained in partial lockdown until around 10 that morning.

has bomb threat
Abbeville High had to be evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a note was found in the school dealing with a bomb threat.
The Abbeville Police were called and spoke to students about the note.
As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, no arrest had been made.
