Shrimp boat catches fire in Intracoastal City

The 7th Ward Vol. Fire Department responded to a boat fire in Intracoastal City on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 3:40 p.m.
Onboard the 95’ shrimping vessel, Miss Kimberly III, maintenance was being performed by crew members below deck while docked at Intracoastal Seafood on Tarpon Avenue. Heat from a cutting torch ignited foam insulation inside the shrimp holding compartment. Firefighters from the 7th Ward, District 13, Meaux/Nunez, and Abbeville Fire Departments spent an hour and a half on scene extinguishing the fire.
