Man takes plea for card game robbery near Erath

Nine of the 11 men who were robbed eight years ago during a card game in Grosse Isle, finally got their chance to see one of the robbers admit to the crime.
The trial was expected to take place Wednesday morning in the courthouse in Abbeville.
A jury was selected and newly elected judge Laurie Hulin was ready to hear the case.
The jurors and nine men attended the trial. After about an hour after the trial was set to begin, assistant district attorney Roger Hamilton and criminal Kendrick Alexander reached a plea agreement.
Alexander was being charged with armed robbery and then agreed to a lesser charge of simple robbery and is expected to spend two years behind bars.
One of the men who was robbed said he was not too happy with the plea agreement, but will take it.
The crime occurred on April 3, 2007 at a residence located off of Grosse Road between Abbeville and Erath.
The individuals were playing cards when three black men wearing ski mask robbed them at gun point.
Also arrested for the crime was Rusty Allen. He has yet to go to trial.
