Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police John ‘Dooley’ Hardy Lodge 48 makes donation to Bares’ family
Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office suffered a great loss when Deputy Allen Bares was fatally shot and killed on June 23, 2014.
Deputy Bares was off the clock but was witnesses a felony crime in progress. Deputy Bares called in the crime to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and like any Law Enforcement Officer would do, he engaged without hesitation.
Abbeville Police Department felt the loss as well. Being a small city and parish, the Abbeville Police Department’s officers had worked side by side with Deputy Bares in several cases. Deputy Bares was also a residence in the City of Abbeville.
The Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police John “Dooley” Hardy Lodge 48 made a $500 donation to the Bares’ family. The lodge was chartered in 2008 and was dedicated to Abbeville Police Department’s PFC John “Dooley” Hardy who was killed in the line of duty On December 24, 1992.
Recently a conference was held in Lake Charles by the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge.
A check for $500 was presented to The Abbeville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge for the Bares’ family.
After the check was presented, a Police Officer from New Orleans Police Department presented $100 to the Abbeville Lodge to be donated to the Bares’s family.
The day before Deputy Bares was killed; he held a discussion with a friend of his. Deputy Bares was looking to build his son a tree house. The friend of Deputy Bares, Guy Nerrin (Maurice Police Department) is honoring Deputy Bares’ wish.
On August 8, 2014, Det. Leland Laseter (Financial Secretary for the Abbeville Lodge), Lt. David Hardy (member of the Abbeville Lodge), and Sgt. Ryan Boutte (member of the Lodge) presented Deputy Bares’ wife, Tina Bares, with a $600 check towards the “Tree House for James.”
The tree house was built by friends and family of Deputy Bares this past weekend.
