Kaplan High , Erath Middle have new principals
KAPLAN - Kaplan High School and Erath Middle School both have new principals.
Vermilion Parish Superintendent Jerome Puyau announced on Thursday that the new principal at Kaplan will be Dr. Janel Guerrini.
He also hired Sandy Huval as the new Erath Middle School principal.
She replaces Lynn Moss, who will retire at the end of the school year.
Dr. Guerrini has been at Kaplan High for one year as the assistant principal under principal Laura LeBeouf.
Prior to arriving at Kaplan High, she was an assistant principal at Lafayette High for seven years.
She has 27 years experience in education, in Louisiana. Of those 27 years, 20 of it was teaching and coaching.
Puyau said, “She is the best person for the job. She would love to make Kaplan High the best school in the state. She is a good fit for Kaplan.”
She will take over the principal duties sometime this month.
Acting as principal since LeBeouf is on medical leave has been former principal Lynn Vincent.
Huval has been in the parish school system for two years as the assistant principal at Erath High School.
Prior to that, she was the assistant principal at Scott Middle School for two years.
She taught math and science for 12 years in Lafayette Parish.
Puyau has yet to name new principals at two schools in Vermilion Parish, including 7th Ward Elementary and Eaton Park Elementary.
