Kaplan Food Bank donations vital part of existence
Many of us are fortunate enough to have jobs, a roof over our head and plenty of food on the table to feed our families.
Unfortuantely, there is also many families who experience difficulty affording food. And the number of families continues to increase and food costs continue to skyrocket.
Two recent donations will help the Kaplan Food Bank to extend a helping hand to many families in need.
Ronald Schexnider, owner of Tans Haven made a donation of $250 and the Kaplan Knights of Columbus made a $500 donation.
“These donations are a vital part of our program,” said Melissa Guidry, president of the Kaplan Food Bank. “While collecting non-perishable foods rates high on our list of necessities, monetary donations are just as important. These funds are used to buy more food which are not donated, toiletries for daily living and also helps in paying for essentials to keep the program afloat.”
There are many ways someone can help to feed our neighbors who cannot afford the food necessary to feed their families.
While donating to the annual food drive is needed, there are many other ways one can help.
One way you can show your support is by scheduling a monthly gift which reflects your values and financial needs. This year round gift will provide meals to many families who live in poverty.
Another way is tribute giving. This is a unique way to honor a family member, friend or collegue. A monetary gift can be a living tribute on a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion.
Remembering a loved one with a memorial gift is also an enduring tribute.
When you give to the Kaplan Food Bank, you are letting people in need know there is hope, because someone cares enough to take action.
Any donations may be mailed to the Kaplan Food Bank at P.O. Box 534, Kaplan, La. 70548 or can be dropped off at the Food Bank located at 401 N.
