Judge Conque announces he is not going to seek re-election

Fifteenth Judicial District Court Judge Durwood W. Conque is announcing that he will not seek re-election this fall, and will retire in December of 2014.
Elected in 1987, Judge Conque has served the Parishes of Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion for the past 27 years.
During his time on the court, he has also been chosen Chief Judge of the Fifteenth Judicial District, President of the Louisiana District Judges Association, and Member of the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Judicial College.
Judge Conque notes: “There is a time for everything, and I feel that this is the right time for me to step down from office. I am very grateful to all of the people who have stood by me for all these years. My family, my friends, my supporters, my staffers and the court personnel who have worked alongside me all deserve to share in the credit for any accomplishments that others may be inclined to attribute to me. I salute and thank you all.
