John Earl LeBlanc announces candidacy for Erath Mayor's race
In announcing his intention to seek re-election as Mayor of Erath for the election being held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, John Earl LeBlanc issued the following statement:
“To the citizens of Erath: I would like to announce that I am seeking re-election as your mayor. The people of Erath humbled me by overwhelming electing me to serve as Mayor of Erath on April 5th of this year. Over the past few months, I have been working very hard representing Erath as a full time mayor. I ask that you allow me to continue working for the betterment of our community.
“I have always felt that as a citizen, it is important for us to serve God, our country, and our community. Following this belief, I have volunteered my time to many civic organizations over the years. I am a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where I serve as a Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, and Sacaristarian. I currently serve as a board member of the Erath 4th of July Association and the Bares Center. I am also actively involved with the management of the Erath Community Building in Erath City Park. I am a member of the Erath Knights of Columbus and the Derouen-Moss American Legion Post in Erath. It is one of the greatest honors of my life to have proudly served my country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
“I have been married to the former Peggy Romero for the past fifty years. We are the parents of two sons and grandparents of five. I am retired from the oilfield, and this allows me to serve as a full-time mayor. I will continue to have an open door policy for the people of Erath. If anyone has any problems or concerns, you are welcome to stop by my house to speak with me. If you are not able to come to my home, you can call me at 937-5568. I will do my best to assist you in any way I can. As I begin my re-election campaign, I will be walking door to door to ask for your vote and support. I look forward to visiting with you and sharing with you my vision for Erath.
“In closing, I would like to thank you for allowing me to be your representative on the Erath City Council and in the Mayor’s Office for the past 28 years. I will forever remain grateful for this honor.”
