Halloween on Thursday and Friday in Vermilion Parish

Get your calender out parents and children because Halloween in Vermilion Parish is getting confusing.
The rest of the United States will be celebrating Halloween on Oct. 31, which is a Friday.
But in Vermilion Parish, you will have two days to celebrate Halloween.
A week ago the Vermilion Parish Police Jury voted to change Halloween from Oct. 31 to Thursday, Oct. 30.
But after some police jurors received phone calls from parents who were upset that the Police Jury moved it from a Friday to a Thursday, the Police Jury reconsidered.
Police Juror Wayne Touchet made a motion to put Halloween back to its original day of Oct. 31. Touchet said parents wanted the holiday on a Friday, because there is no school the next day.
So, as of today, Halloween will be on a Friday for the rural parts of the parish, along with Gueydan and Erath. The hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
If you want to get a jump start on Halloween and celebrate it on Thursday, the municipalities of Abbeville, Maurice and Kaplan is the place to be.
Because of Friday night high school football, the aldermen and councilmen voted to move Halloween up to a Thursday.
