Gueydan police officer arrested by Sheriff's Office

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, a Gueydan police officer has been arrested for Unauthorized Use of an “Access Card” and Malfeasance in Office.
Sheriff Couvillon says that on May 15, detectives with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Kendal Primeaux (W/M, Age: 29) of 5903 Remington Street, in Kaplan, for unauthorized use of an access card and malfeasance in office.
Primeaux was employed as a patrolman with the Gueydan Police Department.
Sheriff Couvillon says the investigation began after detectives received information relating to suspected criminal activity within the Gueydan Police Department in regards to a fuel card being utilized for personal use.
The investigation revealed that Primeaux used the Police Department Fuel Card to fuel up his personal vehicles. The total amount of times that Primeaux used the card to fuel up his vehicle was 40 times and totaled $1,954.66.
Arrest warrants were obtained and Primeaux was arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center with a $15,000 bond, and has since bonded out on those charges. The investigation is on-going.
