Five teams make high school softball playoffs
Five local softball teams have landed in the LHSAA softball playoffs, announced Thursday afternoon.
Four out of the five will have home games, while Gueydan will be on the road.
From the same district, No. 3 seed Kaplan and No. 5 seed North Vermilion will play Monday at home.
Kaplan entertains No. 30 seed Thomas Jefferson High School from the New Orleans area.
Game time will be Monday at 4 p.m.
North Vermilion will entertain No. 28 Church Point Monday at 4 p.m.
The only chance for North Vermilion and Kaplan to meet in the playoffs would be the Class 3A finals, which is May 2.
If Kaplan wins Monday, it plays the winner of the No. 14 Jena/No. 19 Pine Praire winner.
If North Vermilion wins on Monday, it plays the winner of the No. 12 seed Jewel Sumner and No. 21 Rayville winner.
The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles are seeded No. 9 and will entertain No. 21 Oberlin in Class 1A.
VC will play Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $6.
If VC wins, it plays the winner of No 8 St. Mary’s/No. 25 Montgomery winner.
The Delcambre Lady Panthers are the No. 12 seed in Class 2A and will play No. 21 seed French Settlement. The game is Monday at 5 p.m.
The Gueydan Honey Bears are seeded No. 21 and will travel to No. 12 South Cameron on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
