Erath Fourth of July Association wins ‘Red Apple Award’
ERATH - Erath 4th of July Association recently received the “Delta Kappa Gamma Red Apple Award” for outstanding contributions at the Club’s annual banquet.
The Delta Kappa Gamma group said that "through the association’s work, the Fourth of July Association has gone above and beyond to help Erath."
Erath 4th of July Association, through the years, have assisted the town with specific projects to give back to the community.
The "hard working group" has helped with by building the Community Center, as well as, assisted with the tennis courts, town lights, given barricades, flagpoles, and also assisted with signs.
They also have joined hands with the Town of Erath to bring the newest town event of “The Christmas Lighting” in town. The group has also made donations to the Acadian Museum in town, which of course has benefitted in keeping the town’s roots and culture alive for both adults and students.
The Erath 4th of July has assisted and donated to schools as well. Erath High, Erath Middle and Dozier Elementary have been helped in different ways. The group helped with the Erath High baseball field as well as with other projects. They have also assisted at Erath Middle. They recently helped the EMS Student Council when they asked for school benches for the students.
Through grants submitted annually and recognizing the Dozier Elementary’s vision for bringing technology to their students, the Erath 4th of July Association has given $10,700 in donations to Dozier the past five years.
The money was utilized to purchase computers, Promethean Boards, iPads and technology accessories.
Delta Kappa Gamma President Claudell Thibodeaux stated “With their help in giving back to the community and our schools, it is with pride, that our organization recognize the Erath 4th of July Association with this award.”
