Educators celebrate ‘Excellence in Education Day’ in Vermilion Parish

In case you did not know it, but Tuesday was “Excellence in Education Day” in Vermilion Parish.
It was the day to let as many people know that Vermilion’s public educators are committed to the students of Vermilion Parish.
To show they care, many educators on Tuesday wore blue t-shirts to school with a message on the shirt, “Continuing our commitment to students in Vermilion Parish.”
That message could be found on the back of the t-shirt and on the front of the shirt was the message: “Vermilion Parish: Excellence in Education.” There was a picture of a red apple with a heart in the apple. The heart in the apple (which represents education) shows that the educators in the parish care about the children attending school.
The organization behind the “Excellence of Education Day” is the Vermilion Associations of Educators (VAE). Karen Richardson is the VAE president.
“The purpose of today is to recognize that it takes the cooperation of all stakeholders, including parents, students, community members, teachers, administrators and support staff, to create and maintain a successful learning environment for our children,” Richardson added.
She said this was a way for parish educators to “show love and care to the students of the community and schools and to help our children achieve their highest abilities in academics, leadership, athletics and community service.”
