Dedicated to Mr. Bill Searle

GUEYDAN - Gueydan High School Principal Luddy Herpin, described him as being “a man of his word, and someone who worked for the betterment of his school and community.” Those words were spoken about Ira ‘Bill’ Searle Monday morning during the dedication and naming of the Gueydan High School Bill Searle Gymnasium.
On behalf of his family Dwayne Searle thanked the present and past Vermilion Parish School Board Administration for the honor of having the GHS Gymnasium named after his father. He described the tribute as fitting because of the love Mr. Searle had for his school and for the time spent watching basketball with his wife Donia and special friends such as Bernell and Dorothy Istre.
Ira ‘Bill’ Searle was a distinguish member of the community, school bus driver and a Vermilion Parish School Board member for 17 1/2 years.
Searle passed away March 11, 2013.
