Class 3A baseball brackets will be released on Wednesday, instead of Tuesday

Due to a state judge in Baton Rouge issuing a temporary restraining order, the Class 3A baseball tournament brackets will be delayed until today, said the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
The LHSAA said no Class 3A school can proceed with the planning, scheduling, and/or playing of a Class 3A baseball playoff contest.
Waiting to see who they play are Erath, North Vermilion and Kaplan.
Erath, the No. 12 seed, and North Vermilion, the No. 5 seed, are scheduled to play home games.
“I still have hope we are going to play a home game on Thursday,” said EHS Head Baseball Coach David Jordan. “The delay does not affect us because we play home. It’s the teams who travel that will be affected the most.”
A restraining order was filed by the parents of seven Livonia High School baseball players requesting that the LHSAA be prohibited in any way from proceeding with the release of the Class 3A baseball tournament brackets or the start of any such 3A tournament. The court order was a result of the LHSAA ruling a student- athlete at the school ineligible because of a violation of the LHSAA eligibility rules.
The Livonia High School principal requested the initial investigation. An appeal of the ruling was filed and heard by the LHSAA Executive Committee, and the committee upheld the ruling which prompted legal action by the parents.
The LHSAA will release the 3A baseball tournament brackets or will give further information regarding the status of the 3A baseball tournament once the LHSAA receives a ruling from the legal system.
Jordan said he is hoping to play Thursday at 5 p.m. but no later than Friday.
