Another shooting in Abbeville

On Wednesday at approximately 6:34 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to the complaint of shots fired in the area of Oak and Hayes Streets.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed a wounded white male subject being loaded into a vehicle.
The officers investigated the situation and called for Acadian Ambulance to meet them at the scene. There the white male subject was treated and brought to a local hospital. The white male victim was then flown by Air Med to Lafayette General Hospital. The white male was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right leg area and had lost a lot of blood.
APD investigators were called to investigate the shooting. The investigators processed the scene and spoke to witnesses.
According to the witnesses, a black male subject drove up in a black Lexus with dark tinted windows and fancy rims. The suspect then began to shoot at the victim. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and sped away from the scene. APD has received information on a vehicle fitting the description and a possible shooting suspect.
APD investigators spoke to the victim in this matter. The victim , who is 18, advised investigators that he did not wish to pursue any charges in this matter and would not release information to the investigators necessary for the prosecution of anyone arrested.
