Another bicyclist killed in Lafayette

Lafayette Police are investigating the death of a Lafayette bicyclist. 57 year old James McCarthy Jr. of Lafayette was killed when the bicycle he was riding collided with a truck.

On August 12, 2014, at approximately 6:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the intersection of Roselawn and Dicarlo Drive in Lafayette regarding a crash involving a Bicyclist.

According to traffic investigators, both the bicyclist and a Ford pickup truck were traveling north on Roselawn. As they reached the intersection of Dicarlo Drive the cyclist turned right, striking the driver's side door of the truck.

The rider on the bicycle was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The identity of the bicyclist was identified as 57 year old James McCarthy, Jr of Lafayette. The investigation remains ongoing.
