Allen Bares Jr. is off-duty deputy killed; two men arrested

The name of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's deputy shot and killed in Abbeville Monday is Allen Bares Jr. of Erath. He graduated from Erath High.
Bares, in his early 50s, leaves behind a wife and two children. Bares and his family are residents of Abbeville.
State Police have released the names of the two suspects arrested in connection with the shooting death of Bares.
The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Quintylan Richard and 19-year-old Baylon Taylor. Richard is the alleged the shooter. He was found at a Kaplan apartment complex.
Both men were charged with first degree murder. No bond had been set. They were booked into the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Law Enforcement Center at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. They were arrested at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
