Abbeville power outages result of failure on Entergy’s side of line

Multiple power outages experienced Sunday by many in Abbeville came as a result of issues from Entergy, the company that provide’s the city’s power.
“Everything we experienced (Sunday) was caused by the high-voltage transmission line coming from Entergy,” Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza said Monday afternoon. “It was their transmission that failed, a couple of times from what I understand.
“That resulted in several minor outages.”
The majority of the outages occurred Sunday during mid-day. That came three days after about 30 percent of the city saw an outage early Thursday to allow workers to complete installation of a new transformer at the Walter “Pete” Noel Substation. That outage lasted between 10 to 15 minutes in certain areas.
“We verified (with Entergy) that it was not anything on the city’s side,” Piazza said. “It was not anything connected to the new transformer. The work there went fine.
“From what I understand, the outages on Sunday came from the transmission line at Entergy’s substation.
