Abbeville police to have extra patrol for holiday

Black Friday shopping will bring many to the various stores in Abbeville late Thursday and early Friday.
Some of those gift-seekers may already be lined up right now waiting for the once-a-year sales. For the safety of those shoppers and others, the Abbeville Police Department will be stepping up patrol for the holidays.
“We will be extra patrol and security set up at different locations throughout Abbeville,” Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy said. “We are doing so in an effort to maintain safety for our citizens.”
Hardy asked that those citizens shop accordingly.
“While out shopping and such, please remember what Thanksgiving represents and remain peaceful and kind,” Hardy said.
The Chief added that anyone in need of service can contact the department at 893-2511.
“If anyone needs our assistance, do not hesitate to call,” he said. “Our officers are here for your protection.
“We at Abbeville Police Department wish everyone a very happy and joyous Thanksgiving.”
