Abbeville police arrest juvenile for allegedly setting mobile home fire

Wednesday morning the Abbeville Fire Department responded to the complaint of a structure fire located at 206 East Lafayette Street.
The Abbeville Police Department also responded to assist with road closures. While on the scene, officers with the police department learned that one of the occupants of the mobile home, was a juvenile who was arrested for recent arsons within the city.
Investigators had the juvenile brought to the police department along with the babysitter. No one was injured during the structure fire.
The State Fire Marshall Investigator was called to the scene and determined the fire to be an arson.
During the interview process, the juvenile admitted to lighting an object and throwing it inside a room of the mobile home.
The juvenile was then placed into a medical facility where he will undergo a mental evaluation by medical professionals.
A custody order has also been obtained for the juvenile if the need arises.
