Abbeville’s Christmas Stroll is Thursday
With the white lights shinning bright in downtown Abbeville, it certainly looks a lot like Christmas.
This evening, it will feel a lot like Christmas.
The annual Christmas Stroll is set for Thursday evening in downtown Abbeville. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up at 8 p.m.
“You can stroll around downtown and listen to live entertainment,” Abbeville Main Street Manager Charlene Beckett said. “Being downtown for a fun family oriented old fashioned event is like it was in years past when people gathered downtown on evenings and weekends.”

“We will have other group’s participating,” Beckett said.
The Vermilion Parish School Board will have students playing music on the steps of the Vermilion Parish Courthouse. Abbeville General will be providing hot chocolate in Magdalen Square. Abbeville High Project Graduation will be selling baked goods as a fundraiser. Members of the Abbeville Rotary Club will be at Primeaux, Touchet and Associates.
“We are happy to have all of these groups involved,” Beckett said. “These are some new people involved.”
Participating shoppers will be able to enter a drawing for a gift basket give-away at the end of the evening. To be eligible, participants must visit all 15 merchants who are participating as validation stops to get their cards validated. The cards can be obtained at any of the following businesses, from a Volunteer Tour Guide in Magdalen Square. The drawing is at 8:15 p.m. sharp.
“We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this great event,” Beckett said. “It’s going to be cool weather.
“It’s going to be perfect.”
