Vermilion Parish Sheriff deputies are still on the hunt for an inmate that walked off a work detail at the Vermilion Parish Jail Saturday afternoon.
As of 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the Louisiana State Police and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's officers were searching for Christopher Dyson on Boat Shop Road, located between Erath and the parish jail.
Deputies were checking inside of vehicles that were heading down Boat Shop Road to see if there were anyone hiding the vehicles.
Deputies say Christopher Dyson scaled a fenced in area of the jail while working in the laundry room as a trusty. Deputies say Dyson is in jail on drug charges with a $10,000 bond. Deputies say there is no reason to believe Dyson is armed or dangerous. However, Vermilion Deputies are asking the public to be alert and cautious. Residents are also being asked to secure their vehicles as a precaution. Dyson is a white male dressed in a black and white jumpsuit and/or white t-shirt. If you see Dyson, you are asked to call 911 immediately.
