Vermilion Parish Retired Teachers Association November Meeting
Vermilion Parish Retired Teachers Association met on Monday, November 9, 2015 for their regular monthly meeting at the Abbeville Branch of the Vermilion Parish Library.
Featured speaker was Laine Garner, Membership Director of the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association. LTPA is a trade association leading and strengthening Louisiana’s vibrant tourism industry through promotion, education and advocacy on behalf of it’s members.
Garner’s entertaining and informative program focused on “Trips off the Beaten Path in Louisiana”. She and her associate provided several handouts which highlight Louisiana’s unique culinary industry. Short videos described each of the culinary districts along with their geographic locations. Garner suggested that a trip planned around food could also include other activities offered in each region. She also reminded the audience that because of Louisiana’s size, all of these districts could be accessed on day trips.
After taking audience questions, Garner provided information on regional contact persons who organize day trips.
VPRTA will host the Christmas Honoree Luncheon on December 7, 2015 at the Abbeville Branch of the Vermilion Parish Library at 11:30 am. Registration begins at 11 am. Honorees include John M. Landry, Larry Dugas, Billy Gooch, and Edna P. Landry.
VPRTA is an affiliate of Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, District V. Membership in the Vermilion Parish Retired Teachers Association is open to all retired school personnel. Interested individuals can contact Patsy Hebert at 937-6775 for more information.
