Leadership Vermilion Class 2

Leadership Vermilion Class 2 visited the Louisiana State Capitol

On May 20 Leadership Vermilion Class 2 visited the Louisiana State Capitol. The goal of the day was to gain an enhanced appreciation of the Louisiana legislative process and its influence on our parish. Senator Jonathan Perry and Representative Blake Miguez treated Class 2 to a detailed the step-by-step process of how a bill becomes a law and also informed the group about what major bills/issues were being discussed at the present time. Class 2 had an opportunity to attend committee meetings in the morning to following the progress of bills. Next on the agenda was lunch at the gorgeous Jimmie Davis house rented by Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, which included a stellar outdoor patio with padded sofas, reclining chairs, and an awesome view of Capitol Lake and the Capitol Building. As our Leadership Session Sponsor from Iberia Bank, Representative Taylor Barras joined Class 2 for lunch and welcomed them to Baton Rouge and talked about the value of a leadership program. The day ended with Leadership Vermilion being recognized by the Senate and by the House of Representatives.
