Beta Sigma Phi observes ‘Beginning Day’

The Beta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi celebrated “Beginning Day” at the home of President, Rochelle Michaud Dugas.
Joining Rochelle as hostesses were Mona Hebert and Kellie Young. Keeping with the tradition of International BSP’s theme of Beta Sigma Phi Friends Forever, the members “used a spin on this theme” and declared the upcoming year as Louisiana Beta Friends Forever.
The focus of the group this year will be Louisiana, community, friends, faith, culture, traditions, serenity and heritage.
A Louisiana themed brunch began with a moment of silence for the Grand Theatre victims followed by a blessing by Alecia Broussard. Members then raised their mimosas to toast the year and Rochelle Michaud Dugas led the group with “A Cajun Toast” by Bob Hamm.
Members discussed the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, beauty, uniqueness and abundance of natural resources of Acadiana and our entire state.
Adopted by the group was a year filled with Louisiana travel, events, businesses (shopping included) and fun. Surely to provide an extraordinary year of excitement, new experiences, memories and more, all meetings and social activity will spotlight Louisiana.
Mona Hebert gave an oral history of the Acadian flag. Immediately following, the hostesses surprised each member with hand-crafted Acadian flags for their homes. The “pallet and paint” Acadian flags were painted with lots of love especially for members by Rochelle, Mona and Kellie.
