James, Detraz to wed in February

Mr. and Mrs. Mark James of Erath are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Karen Elizabeth, to Jake Mitchell Detraz. Jake is the son of Ms. Dawn Detraz and Mr. and Mrs. Luke "Sonny" Detraz of Abbeville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. Alice Domingue and the late Mr. Eugene Domingue of Erath and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse James of Swansboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Erath High School in 2008 and then went on to receive her Associates degree in Accounting from the Louisiana Technical College in Abbeville. Karen is currently employed as a Project Manager at Element Materials Technology in Lafayette.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Ms. Helen Appel of Hendersonville, NC, Mr. PJ "Crow" Hebert of Abbeville, Ms. Mary Detraz of Abbeville, and Mr. and Mrs. Luke Detraz of Abbeville. He is a 2006 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School. Currently, Jake is employed as a welder at Acadiana Production Services in Abbeville.

The couple will be united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at 7:00 in the evening on February 15, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Erath.
