Hurst, Enwright exchange vows Saturday

Megan Rachelle Hurst of Opelousas, Louisiana and Nicholas Matthew Enwright of Lafayette, Louisiana, were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Academy of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Reverend Steve LeBlanc presided over the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hurst and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Richard, all of Opelousas. Her grandparents are Mrs. Nellie Hurst and the late Mr. John Hurst, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burleigh, all of Opelousas.

The groom is the son of Mr. Steven Enwright of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Ms. Cecile Enwright of Garland, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Enwright, of Tunhannok, Pennsylvania, and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Arsenault of Leominister, Massachusetts.

The bride wore an elegant bridal gown of imported lace sprinkled with crystal sequins over ivory luxe satin. The A-line silhouette of the gown was complemented by a lace semi-cathedral train which extended beyond the satin lining. She chose to wear a finger tip ivory veil of imported English illusion. The mantilla was completed with a lace edging.

The Matron of Honor was Lendsey Reed, the sister of the bride. Marcie McBride, a friend of the bride, served as bridesmaid. The bridesmaids wore flowing floor-length marine-colored dresses with one shoulder bodices that were vertically ruched and had a floral detail.

Rick Zarate, friend of the groom, served as best man, while Anjeev Nepali, another friend of the groom, served as groomsman.

Ainsley Reed, niece of the bride and daugher of Jason and Lindsey Reed, served as flower girl. She wore a dress made out of two to three hundred yards of tulle in peacock colors, featuring an elegant purple vintage rose adorned with a beautiful peacock feather as she threw red rose petals down the aisle.

Isaac Bryson, nephew of the groom and son of Elizabeth Bryson, served as ring bearer. Patrick Bellard, godson of the bride, was an usher for the ceremony.
Julia Allen served as organist and pianist. Will Green performed on the trumpet. The processional music was the Trumpet Voluntary. The recessional was the Wedding March. Polly Martin served in the ceremony as vocalist.

A reception was held after the ceremony at the Grand Coteau Ballroom. The entry doors of the reception hall were draped with tulle in peacock colors and hung with peacock feather wreaths suspended with chocolate ribbon. The decorations inside the reception hall reflected the personalities of the bridal couple. Each table was decorated with a chocolate brown organza runner, topped with a non-floral centerpiece consisting of stacked books, mercury glass candleholders, and framed quotations about love and marriage from famous literary works.

The bride’s cake was a round white layered cake with raspberry filling covered in white coconut butter cream icing, topped with the bride’s grandparents’ cake topper from their wedding.

The groom’s cake was a red velvet layer cake with Dallas Mavericks’ and New Orleans Saints’ team logos.

The couple will travel to Perdido Key, Florida. After the trip, they returned to reside in Lafayette, LA.

The bride currently works in Vermilion Parish as a speech-language pathologist for the school board. The groom is employed as a geographer by the U.S. Geological Survey at Wetlands Research Center.
