Seventh Ward teachers raise money for tech

Three Seventh Ward Elementary teachers recently received new technology equipment for their classrooms. All three teachers applied for a grant from www.donorschoose.org.

Each teacher created a project and explained how the technology equipment would benefit their students. Jennifer Dugal and Suzanne Breaux, second grade teachers, were each awarded a grant for an iPad to be used by their students.

Marilyn Cabrol, a Pre-K teacher, was awarded a grant for a new desktop computer to be used in the student computer center.

The Donors Choose Foundation finds local companies or individuals to help fund the projects, created by each individual teacher, which is based on their classroom's need. The generous donation to Seventh Ward Elementary second grade classrooms was funded by Chevron. The donation to Pre-K was generously funded by local residents along with one of the donations being matched by The Yellow Chair Foundation.

The students are using this new technology equipment daily. The students are extremely excited about their new tablets and computer. These lucky Seventh Ward Elementary students want to extended a great big thank you to Chevron and the generous Abbeville Residents who funded their teacher's projects.
