Dozier names Student of the Year

On January 10, 2014, Dozier Elementary Principal Karla Toups announced, at a short assembly, that Olivia Lopez was named the 2013-14 DES Student of the Year. Lopez is the 5th grade daughter of Jarrett and Patrice (LeBlanc) Lopez of Erath. After the announcement, the Dozier student was greeted with flowers and special family guests. Her parents, as well as her grandparents, Brady and Tina Lopez and Pat and Margo LeBlanc were all on hand for the surprise presentation.

Her two sisters, Caroline and Amalie, and great grandmother Lydie Butler were also at the assembly. She plays saxophone in the 5th grade band and is active in many school activities. Outside of school, Lopez has an interest with performing arts. She has participated in several community play productions in the area for several years now. Lopez now moves to the parish competition.
