The Abbeville Wildcats have finally seen the end come to its three game losing streak with a 57-48 victory over the Jeanerette Tigers.

“It was an important win for us,” Abbeville Head Coach Berwick Hamilton said. “It was good to let them see that they can win games.”

The Wildcats got up early on the Tigers leading at the end of first quarter 17-5. Desmond Taylor scored seven of his team high 18 points in the first quarter alone.

After that the Tigers started to make a push in the second quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 15-10. At halftime the score was 27-20, Abbeville.

Even though the second half was back and forth, the Wildcats were able to hold off the Tigers push and win by the final score of 57-48.

“We still need to do the little things to be a better basketball team,” Hamilton said. “Outside of that, I am very proud of the way they played. It was a good win for us.

Taylor led the way in scoring with 18, but right behind him was Clements Dorsey who netted 13 and Isiah Antoine who scored 11.
