VC Eagles open up district play

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles had lost its last two games, and with district play upon them, were hoping they could end the losing skid.

Unfortunately, for the Eagles the losing streaks continues and is now up to three games, after a 74-41 loss to Lafayettte Christian.

The first half is where the Eagles found themselves in a big hole.

When the first quarter was over the Eagles were down 23-11.

The second quarter was not any better for the Eagles.

Lafayette Christian scored 20 points in the second quarter, and VC was only able to score eight.

The Eagles found themselves down 43-19 at halftime.

Despite fighting as hard as they could the Eagles were outscored in the second half 31-22.

Mike Campbell led the Eagles in scoring with team and game high 18 points. 12 of his 18 points came from behind the three point arch.

The closest person to Campbell, scoring wise, was Brennan Gallet, who scored seven points.

Drake Broussard was able to add six of his own.

Chris Campbell and Wes Meaux were able to contribute with five and four respectively.

Shay Laporte rounded out the scoring with one point.

The Eagles record now falls to 2-9, overall, and 0-1 in district play.

The Eagles will travel to Morgan City this Friday to take on district rival Central Catholic.
