Lady Eagles continue to roll

The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles enterted the game Tuesday night against district rival Lafayette Christian, riding high on a seven game winning streak.

Now, the Lady Eagles get to ride even higher on an eight game winning streak as they defeated Lafayette Christian by the final score of 39-16.

The Lady Eagles came out on fire.

In the first quarter alone, the Lady Eagles put up 15 points.

The defense for the Lady Eagles only allowed Lafayette Christian to score four points in the first quarter.

The second quarter, the Lady Eagles offense was able to add nine more points on the board, and the defense stepped its game up and only allowed one point to Lafayette Christian.

At halftime the Lady Eagles led 24-5.

The second half was much of the same for the Lady Eagles.

They were able to score 12 points in the third quarter. While the offense was doing what it does best the defense was on top of its game allowing only five points in the third quarter.

With most of the second team playing in the fourth, the offense scored three points, and the defense still played strong, only allowing six points.

Katie Frith led the way for the Lady Eagles with a game and team high 20 points.

Frith scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half.

Leah Camel and Ashailee Brailey each scored five points apiece.

Lexi Langlinais scored four points of her own.

Olivia Chiasson and Ellen Langlinais each scored two.

Kelly White rounded out the scoring for the Lady Eagles with one point.

This win marks the eighth straight game that the Lady Eagles have won.

They have also won nine of their last ten games.

This win is also the third straight district win for the Lady Eagles.

Their record now stands at 17-2 overall, and 3-0 in district play.

The Lady Eagles will be on the court again Friday night as they travel to Morgan City to take on Central Catholic.
