Erath girls win close season opener

FRANKLIN - The Erath Lady Bobcats hung on to beat the Hanson Lady Tigers by one point in a season-opener for both teams.

After leading by 11 points in the first half, Erath won 36-35.

The Lady Bobcats took control of the game jumping out to an 11-3 lead on Gabby Harrington’s jumper in the second period.

Erath was in control of the game in the first half, leading 22-11 at halftime. Harrington had nine of Erath’s 22 points.

But then things got interesting when Hanson came out firing three-pointers and nailed them.

Hanson was down 29-16 with three minutes to play in the third period. Over the next three minutes, with the help of three-pointers, Hanson trimmed EHS’s lead to 31-28 right at the end of the third period.

A minute into the fourth quarter, Hanson took the lead, 32-31, for the first time in the game.

Erath’s Ashley Dubois canned a three-pointer of her own that put EHS back on top 34-32 with four minutes to play.

Hanson tied the game 35-all but could never take the lead again.

Dubois made one out of two free throws in the final 11 seconds to put Erath on top for good. She finished the game with five points.

Harrington had 11, while Alexis Harrington added five.

Caitlin Domingues chipped in 8 for Erath.

Macie Guillotte led Hanson with 16 points.

The Hanson Tigers used its inside and outside game to beat Erath 56-30.

Aaron Green paced Erath with 13 points while Zach Compos had five. Ross Barras and Justin Music both had four points for Erath.
