Bobcats squeak by Panthers
The Erath Bobcats were able to hold on to a lead that came down to the closing seconds of the fourth quarter for the 47-45 victory, over the Delcambre Panthers in the first round of the Erath Tournament.
“The way they run up and down the court, it wore us out in the first,” Bobcats Head Coach Tommie Pillette said. “We came out in the second half and just made sure that we started playing team basketball and that was good enough for the win.”
Besides the good team play in the second half, it was the free throw shooting in the fourth quarter that propelled the Bobcats.
Of the 16 points the Bobcats scored in the fourth quarter, 10 were via the charity stripe.
Aaron Green and Elijah Mitchell led the way for the Bobcats, with 15 points apiece.
Alec Toups was not far behind them, with his 13 points.
Brayton Trahan led the way for the Panthers scoring 14 points.
Erath will now face off against AES, and Delcambre plays VC.
