Bears no match for Patriots

The North Vermilion Patriots entered the game against the Gueydan Bears undefeated, and it stayed that way after the game, with a 56-32 victory.

“We got off to a sluggish start,” North Vermilion Head Coach Jack LeBlanc said. “We picked our play up though and ended up having a good second half. I’m also really happy about the way we played defense tonight.”

The defense did play well for the Patriots, as they held the Bears to only 18 first half points.

When the buzzer sounded at halftime, the Patriots were leading 28-18.

The defense got better for the Patriots in the second half, only allowing Gueydan 14 total points. The offense for North Vermilion was consistent. It scored 15 in the first and third quarters, and 13 in the second and fourth.

Leading the way for the Patriots in scoring was Blake Turner and Nic Cooper, who each scored 11.

Mike Bessard was a close second with nine. Donald Comeaux and Terrance Miller each added seven for the Patriots.

Nick Boudreaux scored a team and game high 14 points for the Bears.

Cade Sonnier put up seven for Gueydan. While Casin Reed and Malik Criner rounded out the scoring for the Bears, with six and five respectively.
