Calais and Huval unite in marriage

Jhansi Leigh Calais and Jed Michael Huval were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony during a Mass held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, Louisiana, on December 30, 2011. Fr. Michael Delcambre officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Perry and Sadie Calais of Cecilia. She is the granddaughter of Carlee “Coach” Huval and the late Ethel T. “Tit” Huval and the late A. Clay and Pearl P. Calais all of Cecilia.

The groom is the son of Irving “Red” Huval of Cecilia and Camille Trahan Huval of Breaux Bridge. He is the grandson of Isaac “Bin” Huval and the late Clorine “Peu” Huval of Cecilia and Glayds B. Trahan and the late Robert L. “Bob” Trahan of Maurice.

Escorted by her parents, the bride wore a fitted A-line gown with a dipped neckline and corset closure. The dress featured a structured Valencia Organza bodice with a linear top stitched design. A side bow and streaming sash highlighted the dropped waist. Embellished lace beautified the tulle skirt decorated with rich floral accents. A floor length veil accented the ensemble. The bride carried a bouquet of white tulips adorned with a rose petal rosary wrapped in her baptismal bonnet.

Serving as her matron of honor was Molly Huval LeBlanc, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Dolly Zeringue Calais, sister-in-law of the bride, Blair Boudreaux, Krystal Melancon Harrington, Ashley Ayo Guy, Alison Champagne Brasseaux, and Ashley Gil Olivier, friends of the bride, and Lesli Chiasson Verret, cousin of the groom.

Coty Landry, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Francis Huval, brother of the groom, Ian Calais, brother of the bride, Danny Colt Guidry, Israel Guidry, Russell Knott II, Joshua Huval, and Darrell Serrette II, friends of the groom.

Junior bridesmaid was Chloe Elizabeth Perron, niece of the bride. Logan Francis Huval, nephew of the groom, served as junior groomsman. The flower girl was Bella Mae Calais, Goddaughter of the bride. Gaven Jude Calais, Godson of the bride, and Brooks John Picard, Godson of the groom, served as ring bearers.

Serving as ushers were Ronnie Calais, uncle of the bride, Daniel Usie, and Jeremy Picard, cousins of the groom.

Scripture readers were Julie Bordelon and Robyn Scrantz, cousins of the groom, David Trahan, uncle of the groom, and Ashley Angelle Guidry, friend of the bride.

Tina Calais, aunt of the bride, Becky Bordelon, Godmother of the groom, Rilee Dupuis and Shelby Dupuis, cousins of the groom, served as gift bearers.

Eucharistic Ministers were Sadie Calais, mother of the bride, Mary Elizabeth Dupuis, aunt of the groom, and Randi LeBlanc, cousin of the groom.

Natalie Dauphinet, cousin of the bride, Courtney Croley, Claire LeBlanc, and Sophie Lopez, cousins of the groom, were program attendants.

Cori Dupuis, cousin of the groom, Lane Boudreaux and Kale Boudreaux, cousins of the bride, were altar servers.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Pat’s Atchafalaya Club. After a honeymoon to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, the couple will reside in Cecilia, Louisiana.
