Choate and Steen unite in Holy Matrimony

Torri Monique Choate and Charley Sidney Steen IV (Chase) were united in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Friday, November 15, 2013, in a 7:00 PM ceremony at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Fr. Scott DesOrmeaux and Fr. Keith Landry officiated the ceremony.

Torri is the daughter of Joey and Marietta Choate of Forked Island. She is the maternal granddaughter of Gervis and Pearly Mathews of Kaplan and the late Thelma Mathews of Forked Island and is the paternal granddaughter of the late Alton and Faye Choate of Esther.

Chase is the son of Charley and Debi Steen of Abbeville. He is the maternal grandson of Charles Thomas and the late Bonnie Barron of Lafayette and the paternal grandson of the late Albert and Betty Steen of Abbeville.

Torri was escorted down the aisle by her father, Joey Choate. The bride chose a classic design wedding gown. The slim fit and flare gown made of soft white lace featured a romantic scoop neckline and off the shoulder cap sleeves. The backline flowed into a deep v-shape with cascading covered buttons. The brides’s ensemble was made complete by a chapel length train and scalloped lace hem. Torri carried an elegant bouquet that consisted of dalias, zinnas, protea, cymbidium orchids, calla lilies, parrot tulips, cabbage roses, pericum berries and succulent wrapped in a slate gray flange and sheer navy ribbon.

Torri’s closest family and friends served in her wedding party. Tisha Choate and Taylor Choate, both sisters of the bride, served as maids of honor. Standing as bridesmaids were Emma Granger, friend of the bride; Devan Greene, friend of the bride; Amelia Broussard, friend of the bride; and Sidney Songne’, sister of the groom. Their dresses were a gorgeous navy lace design with a one shoulder sleeve and a grosgrain ribbon at the natural waist. The slim fit was knee length and gave a stylish look to all the ladies. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet. Junior bridesmaids were Ava Groves, godchild of the groom and Ryssa Touchet, cousin of the bride.

Their dresses featured a beautiful glittering sequined bodice and wavy double-layered tulle skirt. Their bouquets also were smaller versions of the bride. Bonnie Songne’, godchild of the groom, served as flower girl. The youngest of the wedding party wore a classic white sleeveless bodice dress including a lace overlay and a darling ribbon waistband. The dress was accented with a beautiful flower broach. Bonnie carried a kissing ball consisting of ivy, sweetheart roses and a sheer navy ribbon.

The groom awaited his bride while wearing a twilight gray tuxedo with a white pleated shirt, vest and long tie.

Chase had his closest friends serving in his wedding party. Ethan Hebert and Andre Boudreaux, both lifelong friends of the groom, served as Best Men. Groomsmen were Kyle Wooton, friend of the groom; Trey Choate, brother of the bride; Tyson Meaux, friend of the groom; and Aaron Melebeck, friend of the groom. Chase chose to honor the memory of Corey Melebeck, his lifelong friend, as an Honorary Groomsman. The Groomsmen wore twilight gray tuxedos with white pleated shirts and matching gray vest and ties. Ring bearer was Cooper Miller, godchild of the bride. Cooper wore an identical tuxedo of the groom. The groom and groomsmen wore cymbidium orchids each with a special charm in memory of the honorary groomsman.

Mother of the bride, Marietta Choate, was escorted by her husband, Joey, and son, Trey. She wore a taupe colored, two piece ensemble. The dress featured detailing with an empire waist accented by a three quarter sleeve jacket with identical lace embellishments. Father of the bride, Joey Choate, wore the matching gray tuxedo, white pleated shirt, and gray vest and tie.

Mother of the groom, Debi Steen, was escorted by her husband, Charley, and her son, Chase. She wore a dove grey lace gown over navy lining. The design featured a Chic bateau neckline, deep v-back, and delicate sleeves with a slim knee skirt. Father of the groom, Charley Steen, wore the matching twilight gray tuxedo, white pleated shirt, and gray vest and tie.

Ushers for the ceremony were Nicholas Boettner, cousin of the groom; Travis Mathews, cousin of the bride; and Matt Touchet, cousin of the bride. They also continued the twilight gray theme and wore matching tuxedos.

The readings for the ceremony were picked by Torri and Chase and read by Charlotte Stelly, godmother of the bride and Jade Songne’, brother-in-law of the groom.
Music for the wedding was provided by Tommy Guidry.

A reception was held at Magdalen Place following the ceremony. The theme of the reception was that of a romantic fall garden with a lit draped ceiling and garden fence backdrop. The tables were candlelit, adorned with trellises, lanterns, topiary trees, shepherds hooks and floral arrangements.

After a honeymoon to Hawaii, the new Mr. and Mrs. Steen plan to reside in Abbeville.
