Bank of Erath names Charley Steen on Board of Directors

Bank of Erath is pleased to announce that Charley S. Steen has become a member of its Board of Directors. He was elected to that position by the Board of Directors at its November meeting.
Steen was born and raised in Abbeville and grew up in the family owned and operated business, C. S. Steen Syrup Mill, Inc., which was founded in 1910.
He learned the sugar business early in his career. He was in charge of purchasing sugarcane and managing the Steen Sugarcane Cleaning Plant. This lead to the formation of Cane, Incorporated in 1989, a sugarcane harvesting company and sugarcane farm.
He is currently President of Cane, Inc. , which has 3,200 acres of sugarcane under cultivation throughout Vermilion Parish, He is also owner and operator of C. S. Steen Farms, LLC, a land holding company; C. S. Steen Properties, LLC, a private investment company, and Charley S. Steen, LLC, an equipment leasing company. He has been a leader in the sugarcane industry and a respected businessman in the community.
An important aspect of his life is his family. He has been married to Debora Barron Steen for 28 years, and is the proud father of Sidney Steen Songne’ and Charley S. Steen, IV. His son is the fifth generation family member in the sugarcane business.
