Every year the American Legion Auxiliary seeks to honor a leader and motivator with its Woman of the Year Award. Marlene Foreman, RN, CHPN, has been selected as American Legion Woman of the Year at the La Department (State) American Legion Auxiliary state convention in Kenner.

First presented in 1984, the Woman of the Year Award has been conferred on women who through the impact of their work or their advocacy is great and aligns with the mission of the Auxiliary, to serve veterans, their families, and their communities.

With letters of reference from local leaders, and the recommendation from of Unit, Marlene was chosen as District 3 Woman of the year and then on to be chosen as Louisiana Woman of the Year. As Louisiana American Legion Auxiliary Woman of the Year, Marlene stated, “With the support of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., the We Honor Veterans Partnership and my work with our local American Legion/Auxiliary group it has humbled me to the good of the American Legion Auxiliary.”
