Patriots blow past Lacassine, Lady Pats fall short

North Vermilion’s varsity boys were victorious over a 13-7 Laccassine Cardinal ball club. The game was shortened by 50.1 seconds after several slips that could have caused injury. The Patriots were safely in the lead 52-37

and the coaches and referees agreed that for safety’s sake to end the game.

Coach Jack LeBlanc commented that this “was a big win, they’re going to win some games, and thought it was great to play a program coached by former NVHS round-baller Casey Meador, further added to the challenge”.
Meador echoed the “challenge of playing a team that had such athleticism as North Vermilion and felt their domination”.

High scorer for Laccassine and the game was Joshua Wykoff with 22. Leading the Patriots was Mike Bessard with 13, closely followed by Nic Cooper with 11. Tre’ Levy added 8, Jordon Windmon 6, Blake Turner 4, Dade

Dieterich and Donald Comeaux each scored 3 pointers, Jawuan Windmon also tallied a total of 3 points, scoring finished up with Terrance Lollis’ 1 point.

Quarter 1 ended with NV having a lead of 14-7; Nic Cooper led the charge with 5 points followed closely by Tre’ Levy with 4 in the quarter. Quarter 2 was similar with a 13-6 Patriot edge; Mike Bessard led that quarter scoring

with 4, Dade Dieterich and Donald Comeaux each with a 3-pointer in that stanza. The half thus ended with the Patriots leading 27-13. Both teams stepped up the scoring a bit in the 3rd quarter; NV 17-14, led by Bessard with

7 and Jordan Windmon 4. The locals were outscored in the 4th quarter, Laccassine winning it 10-8. Nic Cooper led in that quarter with 4.

Lady Pats fall to a 20 and 0 Laccassine Lady Card ball club. They fall to the good teamwork and pressure by a score of 64 - 36.

Quarter 1 saw the Laccassine ‘buzz-saw’ break out to a 20-1 lead. The locals had trouble with the Lady Card pressure; and an early injury to Catherine Touchet did not help matters. The second quarter was slightly better

with the Lady Cards taking that stanza with a 20-8 score for a half-time lead of 40-9. The Lady Pats had a better 3rd quarter falling in that one by 6, the Lady Cards outscoring NV 17-11. The Lady Pats were late in making a

push winning the 4th quarter 16-7. Scoring for the Lady Pats were Simone Pillette 10, Cassidy Hoffpauir 7, Lanie Breaux 6, Lunden Graham 5, and with 2 each were Emily Faulk, Kelli LeBlanc, Baily Broussard and Morgan

Harrington.

The North Vermilion JV team was victorious over the Cardinal JV team from Laccassine by a score of 37-32.

In a free substitution (by both teams) spirited contest saw the Junior Pats enjoy a 13-12 quarter 1 score and a 24-20 halftime lead. A 3rd quarter run of 11-2 for North Vermilion saw them safely in the lead 35-22. Emptying the

bench saw that lead diminish to the final score as Laccassine outscored the locals to the tune of 10-2. Scoring for the JV team were: Terrance Lollis 13, Dade Dieterich 8, Brent Hollier 7, Blake Turner 6, and Tyler Gally with a

3-pointer.
