Elise Legere becomes Mrs. Jacob Faulk
Miss Elise Cecile Legere and Mr. Jacob Ryan Faulk were united in holy matrimony during a 7 p.m. nuptial Mass on Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. The celebrant was Fr. Kendal Faulk, uncle of the groom. Also witnessing the sacrament was Fr. Neil Pettit.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Legere of Abbeville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mathilde “Matsy” Guidry of Abbeville and the late Mr. Ernie Guidry; and Mrs. Melba Legere of Kaplan and the late Paul Legere. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jody Faulk of Kaplan. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Raywood Faulk and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sabra David, all of Kaplan.
Escorted by her father, the bride chose a regal ball gown of ivory satin with a scooped neckline that featured a tucked bodice and chapel length train. She wore a fingertip veil and carried a handmade bouquet. The bouquet was made of fabric flowers including some made from the bride’s mother’s veil and the groom’s mother’s veil. It was adorned with brooches given to the bride by special people that she wanted to include in her wedding. The bouquet was wrapped with a handkerchief hand-beaded by her great-grandmother and used by her mother for her wedding.
Leah Legere, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Hebert, Jacie Sagrera, Brandy Bouillion and Elizabeth LeMaire, all friends of the bride; Renee Stafford and Madeline Guidry, cousins of the bride; and Leah Adams, cousin of the groom. Attendants wore one shouldered chiffon, floor length dresses of light teal and carried bouquets of pink and ivory roses.
Flower girls were SaraEllen Hagle, friend of the bride, Blakely Adams, cousin of the groom and Cecile Faulk, godchild of the groom. They wore ivory colored heirloom dresses with floral wreaths in their hair and carried kissing balls of baby’s breath.
Wayne Hargrave, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Shane Faulk and D.J. Faulk, brothers of the groom; Andre Legere and Phillip Legere, brothers of the bride; and Jacob Howland, Tyler Domingue and Max Karpel, friends of the groom.
Serving as ushers were Adam Desormeaux, cousin of the bride, Lance Herpin, Zachary Melancon, and Tucker Touchet, friends of the groom. The men all wore khaki colored tuxes accented with baby’s breath boutonnieres.
Readings for the ceremony were given by Margie Stafford, godmother of the bride, Annette Hebert, godmother of the groom, Greg Guidry, godfather of the bride, and Patrick Fisher, brother in law of the bride. Gift bearers included Anna Dartez, Mattie Dartez, Lydia Desormeaux and Ella Desormeaux all cousins of the bride. Marie Elena Desormeaux, cousin of the bride, was the altar server for the ceremony and Audrey Sonnier, future sister in law of the bride, served as Eucharistic Minister.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Tommy Guidry, organist and Xiao Lu Li, violinist. Trumpeter was Kip Faulk, cousin of the groom. Amelie Desormeaux and Cecile Desormeaux, cousins of the bride, sang Ave Maria accompanied by Scott Desormeaux, uncle of the bride, on guitar.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Magdalen Place. The guests entered through the courtyard and signed a quilt which was made by the groom’s mother and quilted by his grandmother. After returning from a honeymoon trip to Emerald Lake in British Columbia, Canada, the couple will reside in Kaplan.
