VVFC offers scholarship

An undergraduate scholarship in the amount of $1,600 will be awarded to a graduating high school senior for a two-year period. The scholarship is to be used while attending, on a full-time basis, an accredited college or university in Louisiana.

The money is to be used for assistance with educational expenses and will be paid on a semester basis: $400 per semester, two semesters per year for a two-year period. A letter confirming proof of registration from the registrar of the institution at which the recipient is enrolled is to be mailed to the scholarship chair so that funding is provided each semester.

The scholarship will cease for the following reasons:

–Once the $1,600 has been used by the recipient

–If the recipient is no longer a full-time student

–If the student changes major out of the approved list of course study

–If an overall average of 2.5 is not maintained

A probation period of one semester will be allowed if a student falls below the 2.5 average but maintains an average of 2.0 to 2.4. Funds will be suspended for one semester only and resumed provided the student acquires a 2.5 during the semester of probation. Failure to sustain a 2.5 average within one semester will cancel their remainder of the scholarship.

Each school in Vermilion Parish will receive information sheets and application forms concerning this scholarship. Application forms can be found in your guidance counselor’s office. Information sheets and applications are also available upon request from the scholarship chair.
